Costa Maya Festival Says Yes to 2022

The San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival committee has just given the green light for the festival to take place this year, stating that its importance and impact to the island’s and county’s economy are a huge benefit to the tourism industry. Festival dates are still pending to be announced.

“San Pedro’s International Costa Maya Festival is the only festival of its kind in Central America,” stated the committee in a press release. “It has garnered much prestige and magnitude and is the only festival in the region that is recognized internationally. The festival also promotes our island and country internationally while supporting all businesses through tourism. It has been doing so for the past 30 years. In addition, the festival maintains and promotes a strong bond and close relationship with the Central American countries and Mexico through the Miss Costa Maya pageant and entertainers.

The Committee stated that with the onset of the pandemic, planning the event has become more challenging; therefore, they will be working under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Wellness as the safety and health of all residents and visitors is the priority of the committee. The committee looks forward to continuing working with the stakeholders in the tourism industry, our partners, the San Pedro Town Council, the Belize Tourism Board, various ministries within the Government, volunteers, and all the sponsors that have made the festival possible.

“We also take this opportunity to invite new sponsors, investors, and volunteers to further improve the festival for all to enjoy and for our country to thrive.” More updates on the festival as they become available.
