It is unfortunate that the Office of Director of Health Services recorded 10 deaths in Belize on Friday, November 13, 2020. The Corona Virus Pandemic keeps strengthening day by day as, on average, over a hundred cases are reported daily. Yesterday, 385 samples were processed with 119 cases positive for SARS-CoV2 confirmed; this is a positivity rate of 30.9% for that day.

A breakdown of the 10 deaths show 8 males and 2 females in the following areas:
- Three males from Corozal- one in his 90’s, one in his 80’s and one in his late 50’s.
- Three from Orange walk: 2 males in their 60’s and 1 female in her late 40’s.
- Two from Cayo: a male in his 90’s and a female in her 50’s
- One male in his 60’s from Belize City.

Three persons died at the KHMH's COVID-19 unit, the others died either at the community / regional hospitals or were pronounced dead on arrival at public health facilities. Our case fatality rate is now 1.86%. There are 26 recoveries today with 44.3% of our cases remaining active. We continue to stress to all that activities outside of the home need to be limited to essential activities and we must exercise prevention measures at all times.

The geographic distribution is as follows:
Corozal - 18 (6 Town, 2 Santa Clara, 2 Paraiso, 1 Louisville, 1 Ranchito, 1 San Antonio, 1 Chunox, 2 from Springfield CY, 1 from OW Town, 1 from Shipyard)

Orange Walk - 26 (13 Town, 4 San Jose, 2 Carmelita, 2 San Lazaro,1 San Jose Palmar, 1 Trial Farm , 1 Fireburn, 1 Shipyard and 1 from Corozal Town)

Belize - 50 (26 City, 12 Kolbe, 4 Ladyville , 2 Lords Bank, 1 San Pedro, 1 San Hill, 1 St Paul's Bank, 1 Mullins River, 1 from Corozal Town, 1 from Concepcion CZ)

Cayo - 4 (2 Belmopan, 1 Cotton Tree, 1 from Belize City)

Stann Creek - 7 (1 Maya King, 2 from Bell Vista TOL, 2 from Trio TOL, 1 from San Jose TOL, 1 from San Lazaro OW)

Toledo - 14 (6 Punta Gorda, 3 San Marcos, 2 Eldridgeville, 1 Silver Creek, 1 Hopeville, 1 Big Falls)
