Belize to be included in National Geographic’s First World’s Top 50 Best Dive Destinations Travel Guidebook

Belize City, Tuesday, 29th May, 2018: Carrie Miller and Chris Taylor, two world renowned  National Geographic writers, are currently on a one-week working visit to Belize gathering information for National Geographic’s first dive travel guidebook, which will cover the world’s 50 best dive travel destinations, including Belize.

The guide will highlight marine conservation in Belize; feature itineraries on land and at sea; include a wide variety of individual and shared experiences; share expert tips on where to go, what to see and where to stay.

Each destination will receive approximately seven pages of dedicated coverage in the guidebook and Belize will have its own chapter which will cover accommodation/hotels, travel and activities, diving/snorkeling; restaurants / eateries; points of interest/history/culture and conservation initiatives.

The National Geographic team’s visit to Belize is being sponsored by the Belize Tourism Board.  During their stay, the team will visit several of Belize’s premier attractions in the Belize and southern districts. These include Altun Ha, Gladden Split, Bocawina, South Water Caye Marine Reserve, the Abyss/Fourth Cut, Tobacco Caye and Man O’War Caye among others. They will also conduct a Garifuna cultural tour in Dangriga.

BTB held a press conference on Tuesday, May 29, 2018; where Ms. Karen Pike, BTB’s Director of Marketing and Industry Relations, welcomed the couple to Belize.

Mrs Jocelle Stephen, BTB’s Marketing and PR Manager, highlighted that their itinerary will ensure they experience the inland and the culture and diversity of Belize.

Chris and Carrie noted that their attraction to Belize was also due to Belize’s efforts towards conservation and protection of its marine resources and the reef.

The National Geographic team’s visit, in addition to creating greater awareness on Belize, is yet another example of the effective marketing efforts of both the BTB and its strategic partners in marketing Belize as a top world Curious Destination.

The National Geographic dive travel guidebook will be published by Random House in 2020, and will be sold in major outlets such as Barnes & Noble and Amazon, both in print and e-book form. Well known organizations such as the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI), the world’s largest diver training organization, is supporting the project.
