The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) in partnership with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and other key Belize Tourism stakeholders are hosting the most anticipated international trade exhibition, the Belize Tourism Expo (BETEX) 2017. Activities started on Wednesday, May 3 and run until today May 5 at the SCA Multipurpose Center in Belize City.
BETEX was first organized in 1996 and takes place almost every two years. This two-day centralized trade exhibition provides the exclusive opportunity for international travel companies and agencies to network and conduct business with local tourism stakeholders in a private setting through one-on-one meeting appointments.
The international participants also have the option to sign up for a post tour of choice to experience the destination firsthand. The post tours will feature either a dive or snorkel of the Belize Barrier Reef, a hike through the lush rainforest and to archeological sites, site visits of hotels/resorts and tour operators while learning more about the different cultures and cuisines in each destination they visit.
BETEX commenced on May 3rd with the welcome ceremony and dinner for the participants. The tradeshow began with a press visit on May 4th followed by prescheduled meetings, industry workshops and presentations throughout May 5th for all the registered participants. The international participants will depart on the post tours today, May 5th following the close of the official business days.
Tourism has vastly grown within Belize over the past fifteen years with a steady increase in the number of day and overnight visitors who desire to explore and savor the Belize experience. BETEX provides the opportunity to partner local and international tourism professionals with the objective of promoting Belize as one of the premier tourist destination in the region.
The team is excited about hosting BETEX 2017 – an event which will, as in the past, transform the way trade visitors and local travel stakeholders do business.
