SPHS Graduates 65
The theme for the graduates of San Pedro High School 2014 was “Now You Can Write Your Own Story.” This sentiment was expressed by Guest Speaker Miss Vilma Villanueva who challenged the graduates to use their talents, knowledge and wisdom to make the best choices in order to be able to write their masterpiece.
The Mistresses of Ceremonies were Miss Alisha Cadle and Miss Vivian Noralez. A very cordial salutatory was delivered by Miss Mahe Pereira while Miss Jasmine Ritchie was honored with the Valedictory address.
Every graduation has its “WOW” moment and this year it was certainly the moment that Graduate Gian Rivero received the last award of many. He took several awards to include Honor Roll, Senior of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, and the reputable one, Student of the Year Award.
During the ceremony Principal Emil Vasquez announced something that will quite likely send the Board of Directors to the planning table once again. For the first time in its long history San Pedro High School changed from the trimester system to the semester - a change that brought San Pedro High 35 honor roll graduates but also a very high number of 25 students who did not meet the requirements for graduation. It is also unprecedented for San Pedro High to go on a big decline in number of graduates from 90 last year to 65 this year.
Another ‘moment’ was the Rose Ceremony which brought many parents into tears, but after that Gian Rivero delivered the Vote of Thanks and it was celebration time after that.

SPACE GRADUATES 21
The Night Division at San Pedro High better known as SPACE (San Pedro Adult Continuing Education) also held graduation ceremonies for 21 students who successfully completed their four years of secondary education.
The “WOW” part of the ceremony was definitely the playing of the National Anthem by the High School Music Club and its flute ensemble, under the direction of Maestro Alex Noralez. The Welcome address was given by Josselyn Briceño and Chairman of the Board Mr. Milo Paz gave the Chairman’s Report. The Guest Speaker for the grand occasion was Mrs. Candy Armstrong who challenged the graduates to discover their passions and to cling on to their dreams while doing their utmost best to achieve success. The Valedictorian was Johayra Eiley.
It was a warm and touching ceremony and every speaker focused and celebrated the wonderful opportunity that these working adults have had a second opportunity to complete their secondary studies. Mr. Paul Kelly, Director of the school has captained a good ship and has plans for expansion both physically and in curriculum. This ceremony was offered under the distinguished patronage of Mr. And Mrs. Milo Paz.
