Mexico remains the reigning powerhouse when it comes to the most wins at the Miss Costa Maya Pageat (Reina de la Costa Maya) as Elisa Espinosa Gomez (Miss Mexico) topped the Miss Costa Maya Pageant 2014 that took place last night Thursday, August 7, at the opening of the San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival.
This brings Mexico to seven titles of Miss Costa Maya, the most wins of any of the eight participating countries in the pageant and festival. Elisa Gomez went on stage with her ‘A-Game’ and proved that she had what it takes to take the title of Miss Costa Maya, now in its 19th year. The pageant was full of life, color and entertainment, with the bevy of gorgeous contestants from around the Mundo Maya countries keeping the audience on the edge of their seats in anticipation of who would take the crown. It was a tight race for the crown as the contestants presented themselves in their cultural costumes, swimwear and evening gown with much vigor, enthusiasm and grace.
In between each segment the contestants also performed musical numbers and El Ballet Folklorico de Quintana Roo. Mexico and Grupo Crash from El Salvador also provided dance presentations throughout the pageant. The pageant was hosted by Reef Radio personality Eiden Salazar Jr. and Jennifer Chiong, Miss Costa Maya 2008 from Guatemala.
Rounding off the top three in the pageant were Miss Guatemala Keyla Mermudez in second place and Miss Nicaragua Katherine Guadamuz finished strong in third. Miss Mexico was also the winner of the best cultural costume. Miss Reina de la Costa Maya 2013 Destinee Arnold from Belize was on hand to crown the new Miss Reina de la Costa Maya 2014.
