On June 23, 2010, the official ground breaking ceremony of the Hon. Heredia Hall took place and almost a year later San Pedro High students, faculty, staff and honorable guests witnessed history in the making. The Hon. Heredia Hall was officially inaugurated at the San Pedro High School grounds on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Delivering the welcome address was Mr. Emil Vasquez, Principal of San Pedro High School, who expressed his sincere gratitude to Hon. Heredia as the building was much needed for the development of both institutions (San Pedro High School and San Pedro Junior College). During the ceremony the talented students of San Pedro High entertained the audience with several poems, skits, dances and songs.
Mr. Rafael Angel Nuñez, President of the San Pedro Junior College, also addressed the crowd followed by the guest speakers of the evening, Hon. Manuel Heredia, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation and Hon. Patrick Faber, Minister of Education. In his speech, Hon. Faber applauded the efforts of Minister Heredia for this great accomplishment and to the Junior College for having it named in honor of Minister Heredia.
Mrs. Martha Guerrero, Chairlady of San Pedro High School and Mr. Angel Nuñez had the honors of officially unveiling the plaque of the new building. Rev. Fr. Daniel Lemence Nuñez then carried out the blessing of the building after which Hon. Manuel Heredia, Hon. Patrick Faber and Miss San Pedro High, Miss Miriam Rodriguez, carried out the ribbon cutting.
Hon. Heredia Hall was constructed at the campus of San Pedro High School and will serve for classrooms for both the High School and the Jr. College. It will immediately benefit some 500 students and, of course, thousands in the years to come.
