Saturday, July 16, 2011, San Pedro was all ready for the Masquerade party that the Belize International Film Festival hosted at Kama Lounge, on Ambergris Caye.  The night kicked off with the premier movie screening of “Handful of Dirt” by director Russel Watson.

Kama Lounge was a perfect setting for movie viewing and the Masquerade party with its posh setting and great atmosphere that included a beach bar and delicious hours devours served to ticket holders. After the successful premier, coordinator; Horacio Guerrero introduced the proud director Russel Watson to thank everybody for attending the premier, as well as a question and answer session about the movie with the audience.

Soon after it was time for the after party with special guest DJ’s (DJ Nora Tones, DJ Holiday, and DJ Wikked) from Canada, provided by Lady Luck Entertainment. They were accompanied by Sanpedrano/Miami Deejay DJ Leo Staines alongside with three amazing go-go dancers and a fire eater to entertain the crowd.

Kama Lounge was indeed the place to be for film, music, fun and celebrities; yes I said it “Celebrities”. Couples Retreat star Faizon Love was in the house enjoying the great ambiance and happily interacting with his fans all night long. Ambergris Today’s Gerry Badillo and many guests got interviewed by Tony Roberts from Hyperdrive TV. Ambergris Today got the chance to talk to Film Festival Coordinator; Horacio Guerrero and Nigel Miguel; Film Commissioner and they stated that they were all proud of the successful turn out of the second festival in San Pedro. Many people commented that they love the festival, not only for the impressive parties but for the purpose, which is to inspire upcoming directors, actors etc. in the country of Belize.

Everybody kept chanting Success, Success, Success! Definitely the Belize International Film Festival went all out with much entertainment to make it worthwhile for everybody who attended this unforgettable night, including the scheduled events in Belize City and special screenings in Benque Viejo, Orange Walk and Dangriga.

Congratulations to all the organizers and coordinators, great job and keep it up. For more information about the Belize International Film Festival go to www.belizefilmfestival.com  and also “LIKE” their page on Facebook.

As someone who spends as much time in and near the ocean as possible, I tend to take a more casual viewpoint on evening wear. Thus, any party or social gathering that would welcome boardshorts as nightlife attire is fine by me. No stuffy suits, just people in summer and beach fashion having a nice time. I really like that laid back aspect of San Pedro.
