It was on October 2009 that principals on the island joined forces to form an association called the Principals Association of the Cayes (P.A.C). The group’s mission: “To nurture and support all principals to demonstrate the vision, courage, and expertise to lead and advocate for effective learning communities in which all children reach their highest potential.”
P.A.C’s goal as outlined to Mayor Paz is: “To lead and vigorously promote excellence in the principalship and work with Ministry of Education to educate and train members to be effective advocates for principals at the district and country levels. To work with the Ministry of Education and other education partners, to develop model legislation to enhance the principal’s authority, autonomy and responsibility to lead schools. And to develop and broker resources for members to work effectively at the district and country level toward achieving equity and consistency in public and private education.”
Following are the members of P.A.C: President – Mr. Miguel Hernandez of New Horizon SDA School, Secretary – Addy Martinez of Isla Bonita Elementary School, Dixie Bowen of The Island Academy, Roxannie Kay of San Pedro R.
