Ambergris Today had a most joyful time last night, Thursday, December 23, as the staff joined the San Pedro Lions Club on their annual Christmas Caroling. Joining in on the fun this year was the San Pedro AIDS Commission. Spreading cheer and holiday joy was the mission of the night and everybody had so much fun doing it.
The San Pedro Lions Club does a fantastic job at spreading the Holiday cheer every year as they hit the streets singing Christmas carols and giving away apples and candy to everyone they meet. This year the Lions Club headed to the San Mateo area across the bridge, Boca del Rio and San Juan areas.
The San Pedro AIDS Commission joined in the celebrations to hand out the hundreds of gifts the organization received from their toy drive. President of the Commission, Felix Ayuso, told Ambergris Today that they received overwhelming support from community as they received over 400 gifts to give out. Also helping with the toy drive was The Belize Association of California. They donated toys and clothing to the AIDS Commission to distribute in San Pedro. The Belize Association of California conducts the same toy drive and gift giving to the less fortunate in Belize City; their annual charity drive is called “A Christmas Giving”.
The partnership of the San Pedro Lions Club with the San Pedro AIDS Commission and the Belize Association of California allowed children of families who are less fortunate to be blessed with a gift and help put smiles on their faces. This is a great opportunity for the kids to feel the Spirit and Love of Christmas and a great opportunity for our community to make a difference.
