Her name is Marije aka Cat from the Netherlands and she is traveling around the world taking with her a red carpet and in each country she visits she films video of her ‘Cat Walk’ and challenges.
Marije is doing Cat Walks in at least 20 countries and at the end of her journey she will take all her Cat Walk film footage and turn it into a longer video. Her mission is to make people aware of the enormous strength of body language to themselves and others and to inspire all human beings to follow their heart and use all the opportunities in the world to make dreams come true!
Behind her inspiration also lies a charitable cause. As part of Marije’s Cat Walks Around the World she takes on challenges by anyone who wants to give here one. Half of the money she raises goes towards her travels and the other half goes towards cleft lip surgeries for kids in Guatemala.
Before coming to Belize, Marije was doing volunteer work in Guatemala with Tess Unlimited. Tess is a much needed organization that helps raise money for surgeries of children born with cleft lips – a common thing in Guatemala. Tess also has an education center in a small village in Guatemala and helps kids with Math, reading and learning English.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2010, Marije performed her “Cat Walk” at the end of the San Pedro Distributers/Bowen pier where she and other participants walked the red carpet off the pier and into the Caribbean Sea. Dixie Bowen provided the free Belikins to those who joined Marije in her leap off the red carpet. It was one of those spontaneous and crazy things you do for fun. Already helping her out in her project have been Changes in Latitudes Bed and Breakfast, Banana Beach Resort and Holiday Hotel, among others.
Marije has so far visited seven countries in 252 days on the road. She will leave Belize soon, but if anyone out there would like to help Marije on her amazing journey as she moves to her next location, you can contact her through her website www.catwalksaroundtheworld.com and let her know what your challenge is and how much you would like to pledge to her project. Ambergris Today wishes “Cat” safe travels and all the best in her walk around the world.
