Music teacher Carlos Perrote just concluded his second annual Summer Music Camp after having held a very successful one for the first time last year. The musical camp offers mostly young students the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments and allows them to showcase their talent at a musical presentation at the end of the camp.
This presentation was held last week Friday, August 15, 2014 at the R. Angel Nuñez Auditorium with parents and family enjoying a fantastic display of talent from each participating student. It was impressive to see how all the students come to master a number of instruments in such a short period of time. Some of the students have never touched a musical instrument and are impressing with their newly learned musical skills.
Perrote's students learned the skills of playing a variety of instruments which include the Garifuna drums, Djembe, Cajon, Congas, Tamboras, Bass Drums, Marching Snare Drums, Brazilian Bass Drums, Bata Drums and the Steel Pans, to name a few. He counts with the help of his very talented children Alma Perrote, Carson Perrote and Cuba Perrote and Keano Chaplin. Perrote is a Cuban music teacher and is well educated in the world of music, having played in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, and even touring Germany, France and Italy.
