The San Pedro House of Culture celebrated with the Garinagu of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, Belize, with entertainment and lots of free food and Garifuna treats for those in attendance. The evening was part of Garifuna Awareness Day to showcase the music and food of the Garinagu of Belize. This was in preparatipon of the upcoming Garifuna Settlement Day celebrations on November 19, a national holiday in Belize. Drumming and dancing were the highlights of the evening, provided by the Chirikanari Drummers/Dancers. A very awesome cultural experience.
Foreva Fancy Boutique helped kick off the Garifuna Settlement Day celebrations that are coming up on November 19, 2017 with a fashion show held over the weekend. The fashion show was inspired by the Garifuna Culture and it's people with models showcasing traditional Garifuna clothing made available by the San Pedro Garifuna Council and assistance by the San Pedro House of Culture. The island boutique also put together an ensable of clothing inspired by the colors and style of the Garifuna culture - a modern twist to traditional/cultural style.
It was a packed house at Palapa Bar and Grill this past Sunday, October 29, as the Saga Humane Society of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, held its annual 14th Annual Spooktacular Halloween Party and Costume Contest. It was a family fun-filled event where man's best friend was the main attraction. Island residents got their canine friends in costumes and celebrated along with Saga to help raise funds for the organization. A panel of judges assisted in awarding prizes for Most Original Costume, Scariest, Funniest, Best Look-alike and Best Trick.
In the wake of the court cases, dramatic news headlines, death and hope for justice, David Cannon, father of young Faye Lin Cannon, organized a memorial service for his deceased young girl, held at the San Pedro Lions Den on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The venue saw residents in and out the Lions Den throughout the afternoon as they came to pray for Faye Lin, meet her father David Cannon and extend their support and assistance throughout his ongoing battle for the custody of his three adoptive daughter, sisters of Faye Lin - Mia, Siri and Zoe.

WOW! Former Principal of San Pedro High School, Mr. Angel Nuñez, says he fondly remembers his early years at San Pedro High School like if it were yesterday. This weekend he joined part of the alumni of the second gradating class of SPHS. Celebrating 40 years as San Pedro High Graduates included Celi Jean, Ema Varela, Rosela Guerrero, Cris Nuñez, Gach Guerrero and Luis Nuñez. (Missing from the pic are - Andy, Bob, Gil, Lupe and Mario - Mario passed away on June 13, 2017.) Congratulations to the San Pedro High Class of '77
The Miss Costa Maya delegates were officially presented with their sash on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Fido's Courtyard and Pier. They enjoyed a fabulous dinner and got to mingle and interact with locals and visitors of the island. Enjoying the live music of the band while taking pictures and dancing was how the night ended.
The fun has commenced as Ambergris Caye Camp Starfish is back for another exciting annual summer program. Activities started since Monday, July 17, 2017 at the San Pedro Lions Den. This program was created for children with disabilities to interact with one another, learn the alphabet, to read, play games and have fun.

The San Pedro House of Culture, San Pedro Roman Catholic Church and residents of San Pedro gathered in front of the St.Peter’s statue outside of the Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, to celebrate “Dia De San Pedro” / St.Peter’s Day! The audience was delighted throughout the night with presentations by the cultural group from Palmar, Orange Walk, The San Pedro Dance Academy, The Trio (including one of San Pedro’s very own) and The Mariachi.

As part of World No Tobacco Day, the National Drug Abuse Control Council (NDACC) hosted a poster competition and arranged a No Tobacco Walk on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 starting from the Central Park. The Island Academy held its graduation ceremony for 2017 on Frinday, May 26, celebrating the accomplisments of the entire student body, teaching staff and management, but most importantly handing out graduation diplomas to seven students. Teachers in all the grade levels handed out awards to their top students for excellence in academics, personal growth and social behavior.
San Pedro’s newest yoga studio and spa, Science and Soul Wellness, just opened it’s doors to the public this past weekend with celebrations and a fundraiser held at its home location in Mahogany Bay Village. Owner, Paulette Hardwood, organized an enjoyable afternoon social that included health snacks, sangria and festivities that included complimentary massages, aerial yoga demonstrations, paddle board yoga, dance presentations, a fashion show and including a silent auction to help raise funds for the SHINE organization.
Most Central American and Latin countries celebrate mothers day on May 10th. In San Pedro its celebrated on the second sunday of the month, however some still celebrate it Today, May 10th. Little Angels Pre School took the time to dedicate this day to their mothers. They celebrated with dances, singing, playing games and giving a special handmade gift to their moms.
The San Pedro House of Culture hosted “Dia de la Cruz” on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. After a special novena, the exhibition that included more examples of adorned crosses was open for everyone to enjoy. A small party with beautiful music, some snacks and drinks were available to those present.
The Ambergris Caye Masonic Lodge celebrated its second anniversary on Saturday, April 29, 2017, with a social gathering held at The Great House, Mahogany Bay Village. The Ambergris Caye Masonic Lodge was founded on May 6, 2015.
On Friday, April 21, 2017 The San Pedro Leo’s Club handed over a Scooter to lucky winner Anna Barerra. The raffle was drawn on Saturday, April 15 during the Easter dance. Proceeds of this raffle will be used into helping keep the community clean and helping those in need. The Leo Club wishes to thank all those who bought a ticket or helped in any way.
As part of fundraising efforts towards the San Pedro Children’s Home Hope Haven, Raise Me Up held a Sun and Moon Festival that took place this past weekend from Thursday, April 6, to Sunday, April 9, 2017, in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize.
