San Pedro Police was on the scene of an accident this afternoon, July 11, 2011, in the Alta Mar Area of San Pedro Town investigating the death of a worker of the San Pedro Town Council. Spectators watched as the crime investigation team worked on the scene where the lifeless body of a male Hispanic man laid in a pool of blood behind the town garbage truck.

Our main mode of transportation on the island is by golf cart, most locals own one, and there are many rentals on the island with about 50 or more golf carts each. They are very essential to our every day island living as they take us to and fro our destinations in a faster and more convenient way.

Meet Crissia María Sánchez Calvo, the 21-year-old representative of Costa Rica who will be vying for the title of Reina de la Costa Maya 2011. The 5’5? brunette is a journalist, has light brown eyes and her measurements are 36 – 24 – 35. Her hobbies are dancing and listening to music.
Nicaragua will be represented at the Costa Maya International Pageant by Giselle de los Ángeles Alvarez Ramirez. Gisselle is 24-years-old, she is 5’6” and her measurements are: 35-25-36. Giseelle was a contestant at the Miss Nicaragua Pageant in February of this year. She is a very confident woman and is studying Industrial Engineering.
San Pedro’s very own artist and inspirational speaker Chris Emmanuel travelled to Mankota, Minnesota in the United States where he painted a mural along with 85 students in the College Access Program at Minnesota State University.
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) held a basic first aid training on Friday, July 1, 2011. A total of 16 participants including public officers, domestic workers, students, security officers and dive masters of San Pedro Town and Caye Caulker took part in the training.

Belize International Pageants Ltd. (BIPL) has made the announcement that it will be holding Miss Earth Belize pageant on July 23, 2011, at the Bliss Center. The winner will represent Belize in Miss Earth Pageant in Pattaya Thailand, from October 12th to November 12th 2011.
