The San Pedro Fire department received an early morning call today, Monday, July 25, 2011, about a fire at the San Pedro Roman Catholic Primary School compound. Upon arriving at the school at 4:30a.m., they encountered the school’s palapa engulfed in flames.

Belize is making its rounds in the international arena, this time at the World Series of Poker Hold ‘Em Championship that is taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thursday July 14, 2011 the Reef Radio kicked off their karaoke competition but with a twist; the competition has now advanced to a duets karaoke competition. Many residents immediately signed up for the challenge, resulting in four duos taking the mic to sing their tunes in a two round karaoke challenge.

Pigtail is a common food item in Belize and is most popularly eaten with split peas. Just recently Belize City media reported on a case where a resident of the Orange Walk District was poisoned with Salmonella by having eaten pigtail.
