San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize has definitely been the hot spot for many visitors from all walks of life throughout the years. Visitors come to the island because of the friendly people, delicious food, bars and entertainment and amazing hotels, but definitely we can’t forget the outstanding snorkeling and diving at the second largest Barrier Reef in the world. There are many ways that our beautiful paradise has been found, but the most Googled name is “La Isla Bonita”. Why? (Here goes my story on this interesting topic).

I was on Facebook chatting with some international friends and they all kept asking me, “Why San Pedro is named La Isla Bonita?” “Is Madonna’s song La Isla Bonita written about San Pedro?”

All those questions kept me thinking; trust me this was not the first time I heard those questions about the mystery behind the song. Therefore, I started Googling for different facts about Madonna’s song La Isla Bonita. After searching through different websites I found many of Madonna’s websites that stated “Her song "La Isla Bonita" (1986) was inspired by a visit she made to San Pedro, Ambergris Cay, Belize, with her then-husband Sean Penn”. (Interesting right?)

But I was still not convinced yet, because I came across a lot of bloggers that have visited San Pedro because of the song (they simply Googled “La Isla Bonita” Awesome!). These bloggers had some very interesting point of views about the song and how the lyrics relate identical to our Sanpedrano lifestyle (if you are wondering what they stated, check out my video ).

All I can state is that I am happy that I did my research and enlightened myself and my followers on this questionable topic that lies in many people’s mind. It’s just great to read all the interesting and imaginable stories that these bloggers came up with. Since Madonna hasn’t stated whether or not the song is related to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize at least it has earned us a very popular trademark. “San Pedro LA ISLA BONITA”:). This video is excellent and very informative. One of my hobbies is travelling and I love San Pedro "La Isla Bonita" Ambergris Caye, Belize. I am a huge fan of Madonna and have seen her in concert many times and i always wondered about that beautiful island "SAN PEDRO" and i found it because of her, trust me i have spread the word.

Some advice....you have a rising star in your staff Mr. Editor and you should be proud of that. Keep him close (give him a raise; that always works...but seriously, he deserves it) or else you never know Mtv, Televisa, Univision, Mun2, E!, Access Hollywood etc... might be coming for him. Keep it up Gerry, you are on the right path in taking Ambergris Today to success!!! Plus your website is really nice!
