What's Up Today, Gerry?
Road to Intl. Costa Maya Pagaent 2011
Ever since the lovely delegates from the Reina de La Costa Maya 2011 arrived, the island has been buzzing about them. I had the privilege in meeting them on their arrival at both Maya Island Air and Tropic Air. I have to be honest I was very excited to meet these girls (Yea! New Friends) and join them on their day by day adventure until the day of the pageant.
Fido’s Courtyard was the first stop for these lovely ladies to visit. At Fido’s they got the chance to meet and greet with many locals and tourists (there was a lot of photo ops), as well as dine on the restaurants delicious food. The amazing band Love Paradigm got the Costa Maya delegates up on their feet as they sang and danced to night away.
Elvi’s Kitchen had their popular and very delicious Mayan Buffet ready “para que las reinas se chupen sus dedos” (finger licking food, Oh Yea!). The chikas were greeted with by the Romantic, Cuban and Jazz stylings of Maikel Garcia. The delegates commented to me that they loved all the different types of food that the Mayan Buffet had to offer and that it reminded them of home, but better. After dinner the girls threw their shoes aside and danced barefoot like true Sanpedranas to the catchy tunes of Maikel.
Discovery Expeditions had a half day trip planned for the girls for them to experience Sea Trek. As the girls arrived they got super excited, since none of them have ever experienced an underwater adventure where they can get wet and still have their perfect hair style and make up intact for the cameras (That was a huge plus for the beauties
). Tanning all the way back to town was a great way to end the day on board the Sea Symphony.
Ramon’s Village “Noche Tropical” was the place to be on Saturday, July 30, 2011, as they hosted the Costa Maya delegates to a welcoming party. It was a jammed-pack night on the beach, where the girls had an impressive fashion show, also showcasing their unique cultural costumes to the guests. (They looked Gorgeous
). Like after ever celebration there is an after party; everybody joined the girls as they danced to many tunes by DJ Habo. It was a great idea to have a nice party on the beach (great job organizers
).
Seaduced: Hol Chan, Shark & Ray Alley and Caye Caulker was the trip that the chikas were all excited since they got their schedules (who wouldn’t be). As we made it to Hol Chan Marine Reserve all the ladies got their snorkeling gear on and headed to explore the underwater world. Next we all headed to Shark & Ray Alley; now this reserve is always the highlight of the trip for these girls, simply because they have never attempted this before (delegates emotions: scared, excited, happy, scared and scared). These girls were really brave and they had an amazing experience snorkeling with these amazing sea animals. And I can’t leave out that they now can say that they saw the magnificent second largest barrier reef in the world:). All the girls yelled “Caye Caulker, Caye Caulker, Caye Caulker”. In Caye Caulker we were all greeted with open arms at the Rainbow Restaurant, where we all had an excellent lobster dish followed by a golf cart ride around Caye Caulker.
Captain Morgan’s “Captain’s Casino” was indeed full of pirates ready to win their treasure in all the fabulous slot machines and poker tables. The delegates got the opportunity to socialize and enjoy the amazing casino. The Costa Maya delegates were happy to help out the Saga Organization in their photo shoot fundraiser. It was another successful night for the delegates on the road to the Costa Maya Pageant 2011.
Wow! I really got inspired this time:) I really had an amazing time with the 2011 Costa Maya delegates and I wish them good luck in their competition. I hope everybody has a great time at the International Costa Maya Festival. See you there!
