Coca-Cola Moments Of Happiness
Bowen & Bowen Ltd. is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the bottling production of Coca-Cola in Belize this year. To highlight this Golden Anniversary the company had 50 painters to conjure up the quote “Open Happiness” Coca-Cola through painting in an art competition/exhibition that will travel around the country.
Coca-Cola is the beverage of choice and can be found at just about every social event. Whether or not you enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola in the morning with your delicious hot tacos or over the rocks with smooth local rum and a slice of lime in the evening after a hard day’s work, Coca-Cola refreshes Belizeans of every walk of life, every day.
On Tuesday, May 8, 2012, Bowen & Bowen Ltd. held an official grand opening of the exhibit and presentation awards to the winners of the art competition, the ceremony took place at the House of Culture in Belize City.
Professional artists and schools were invited to participate of which they had 25 professional entries and 25 school entries; a total of 50 paintings were on display at the exhibit commemorating the company’s 50th anniversary.
Artists from the entire country were invited to participate and San Pedro’s very own Melody Sanchez of Belizean Melody Art Gallery and Edwardo “Papo” Alamilla of Papo’s Art Gallery were part of Coca-Cola’s art competition.
Taking 1st place in the profession category was Terryl “Man at Work” Godoy, in 2nd place was Carlyn Carr and 3rd Place went to Ewardo “Papo” Alamilla. In the school category 1st place went to Maude Williams High School (Belize City), 2nd place to Muffles College (Orange Walk) and 3rd Place to Mount Carmel (Benque Viejo del Carmen).
All paintings will travel around the country inspiring young artists and ultimately benefiting Belizean children through the raising of funds for the Lifeline Foundation. Winners will be displayed in Bowen & Bowen Ltd’s Corporate Offices. At the end of the countrywide tour there will be an auction of the art at a Gala event at the Institute of Creative Arts on October 6, 2012.
