Miss San Pedro High Rocked
From the moment the curtains were raised to the very final moments of the Miss San Pedro High 2009 Pageant, the eight contestants had the Angel Nunez Auditorium in high energy. Three young ladies in particular almost blew off the roof, and when the entertainment came about, they set up “the roof on fire”.
Emcee Senator Eiden Salazar set up the stage for what was to be a frenzy by introducing the eight contestants namely: Ileni Aguilar, Ilsa Nuñez, Kimberly Carillo, Johaira Eiley, Muriel Hynes, Cesia Hernandez,Yanira Lara, and Estrella Troches. The emcee warned that this was to be a heated contest for the girls, the audience and judges. When Yanira Lara, Gabriela Ilsa Nuñez and Johaira Eiley took the stage, their fans went wild and goose bumps could be felt. They simply were gorgeous, showing elegance, beauty, grace, and poise. Their modeling was excellent and their intelligent response to questions about San Pedro and San Pedro High School were admirable. The sections that the audience particularly enjoyed were the sports wear presentation and the talent segments.
Of course the bonus and icing on the cake was added by sensational presentations by the high school girls/members of the San Pedro Dance Company, and special appearance of high school teacher, Estella Usher, imitating Paquita la del Barrio. However the zinc roofing of the auditorium shook with the continuous shouting of the crowd and the reverberating sounds of the Rock In Peace, the high school band. They delighted the crowd with Rock N’ Roll songs from Mana, and Guns & Roses. But nothing beat Ana Barbara’s frenzy than the appearance of Lupita “Selena” Salgaro with her interpretation of “Bandido”. To many of the spectators, this was their first chance to enjoy Rock In Peace and could not believe what they were seeing. To put it mildly, “THEY SIMPLY ROCKED”.
The pageant and show culminated when the judges submitted their ballots to announce the winners. Second runner up was Ilsa Nuñez, First Runner up Miss Johaira Eiley and the winner by score cards and also by popular acclamation was Miss Yanira Lara. After that the stage was taken over by hundreds of fans who flooded to congratulate Miss Lara, Miss San Pedro High 2009. Congratulations to all eight girls who are all winners by participation and to the new Miss San Pedro High 2009.
