Tropic Air Cleans Up Runway
In observance of Earth Day, April 22, Tropic Air, The Airline of Belize, got a few staff members from the San Pedro station to collect trash along the entire length of the runway in San Pedro. Small efforts like these make a big difference.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve Week’s Activities
The Hol Chan Office organized a week-long program of activities geared towards bringing awareness to the importance of the country’s natural resources and educating people as to how to protect it.
The first activity included an appearance at the Reef Radio Morning Show on Monday to talk about Reef Week and the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. On Tuesday, primary school students participated in a trivia competition at the Lion’s Den and a touch tank was on display at the Hol Chan Visitor Center on Wednesday.
The rest of the week’s activities include a skit competition at the Lion’s Den today, Thursday, April 24; a teachers’ trip to Bacalar Chico on Friday and finally the Lagoon-Reef Eco-Challenge this weekend.
The Palms Employees Plant Trees
Staff members of The Palms and their children make an effort to plant trees to commemorate Earth Day on April 22nd.
Volunteers Work on Trash Bins
Monday was a gold star day for San Pedro’s new trash bin project. Four volunteers showed up to help Dr. Wil saw, drill holes and put bins together.
Additional volunteers have been Alex Canalex, Joe Novelo, Art Rinehart, Todd Beblow from Segway Belize, from Ecologic Charlie Mejia, Manuel Mendoza, Juan Kumel, and Marcos Alamina; Eric Garcia from the Blue Tang, and from Changes in Latitude, Joe Novelo.
