Enjoy the Grandeur of Grand Caribe Belize

The grandeur of Grand Caribe is like nothing that you have seen before on Ambergris Caye. From when you walk into the reception, step out onto the compound or walk into one of the rooms, ‘Grand’ is definitely a word that comes to mind.

Grand Caribe Belize is one of Ambergris Caye’s newest and modern seaside resort that is located on the serene north side of the island about two miles from San Pedro Town. Eight individual buildings consisting of nine condominiums each stand tall enclosing a beautiful courtyard with a perfectly manicured lawn, one of the largest swimming pools in the country, two smaller pools with Jacuzzis and a bar & grill.

The way the compound is designed, the 72 units at Grand Caribe are not cut short of the spectacular panoramic ocean view; 500 feet of white sandy beach lie in front of the resort, nothing short of spectacular.

The afternoon of our arrival we heading to the pier were we found a fantastic expansive view of our gorgeous Caribbean Sea with the Great Barrier Reef of Belize roaring just a short distance away. The pier is an excellent place kick back under the gazebo, take a dip in the surrounding clear waters, sunbathe or sit at the end to admire the view. Nature blessed us what a spectacular sunset that evening; the clouds burnt bright red and yellow as the sun set behind the majestic Grand Caribe.

We enjoyed a great dinner at the Foot Prints Poolside Bar and Grill; dining on lobster salad and BBQ pork ribs under the stars in a quiet evening. Foot Prints Poolside Bar and Grill serves great food and drinks right on site or you can even have meals delivered right to your condo. Several restaurants close by are at walking distance from Grand Caribe, so there is a choice to eat in or explore more of North Ambergris’ restaurants.

Back in our room, it was time to enjoy the amenities of our four bedroom condominium that towered above the Grand Belize compound. Each one, two or three bedroom condominium at Grand Caribe is beautifully appointed and spacious with fully equipped kitchens and décor is unique for each room. The staff of Ambergris Today was delighted and honored to have been hosted in the four bedroom 3,600+ square feet penthouse which was adorned with large paintings from local San Pedro artist Edwardo “Papo” Alamilla – a great plus, might I add.

This penthouse includes a dining room, living room and a large wet bar on the main floor in conjunction with a grand veranda. Each bedroom has its own spacious connecting and gorgeous bathroom. Three of the four bedrooms are on the upper level and include their own private verandas, two with sea views and one with a lagoon view (great for sunsets).

Highlights of the rooms include flat screen TV’s, iPod docking stations, DVD players, walk in closets and grand space. In our experience, the kitchen has been the best equipped with a large refrigerator, large microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, rice cooker and even a dishwasher. Comfort, space, luxury and ‘Grand’ living perfectly describe our stay in the penthouse.

The following day was spent enjoying the grounds at Grand Caribe, from enjoying breakfast by the pool, relaxing at the beach, a siesta in the hammock to a refreshing dip in the luxurious pool. Margaritas and daiquiris were a must to cool off at the swim-up bar. It was a bright and sunny day with nothing in the mind but just total relaxation.

But besides relaxing, there is plenty that can be done during your stay at Grand Caribe. You can kayak out to the reef, snorkel on the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, take a boat to the Blue Hole for a diving experience found nowhere else in the world. Grand Caribe can offer more including scuba diving, fishing, Mayan ruins, and jungle tours, zip lining and cave tubing. They can make all the arrangements to make your stay in paradise truly Grand.

I had to occasionally pinch myself to see if I was dreaming or not during our stay at Grand Caribe Belize Resort and Condominiums. It was a perfect weekend of relaxation in luxury, fun in the sun and letting go at this magnificent resort. An occasional familiar passerby would reminded me that I was still at home on Ambergris Caye, but for the visiting tourist the only reminder of being home would be the comforts and amenities of the condo, everything else is paradise.
