Our Blue Iguana Experience

Looking for a place to eat with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea? Blue Iguana Grille is the place to be! The staff of Ambergris Today was the guest of honor at Blue Iguana Grille as we were invited to savor the very best in food and drinks that the restaurant has to offer.

Blue Iguana Grille has a unique cocktail and martini menu as most of the drinks are original creations by their own bartenders. And without any hesitations we were prepared several drinks for us to try! The Blue Iguana (151 rum, gold tequila, triple sec and a splash of pineapple and lime), Tropical Splash ( absolute vodka, grapefruit, lime and pineapple juice and tonic), Chi Chi Piña Colada and Que Dice’s Punch of Happiness were just a few of the drinks we had and trust me they were good!

Justin Batdorff, owner of Blue Iguana Grille, made sure that we were having a good time and were attended. To start off dinner we were given some delicious appetizers which included Calamari, Lobster Cakes, Island Shrimp and Grilled Caribbean Wings. The Island Shrimp – tender crispy shrimp tossed in a spicy aioli sauce had us all licking our fingers and wanting more! But the Calamari and Lobster Cakes were equally delicious. The grilled wings were marinated and then tossed in a Caribbean jerk sauce. Four great ways to ignite ones appetite!

Dinner was no exception to the finger licking as we were served Blue Iguana Grille’s top special dishes. Gerry’s favorite was The Lobster Imperial – perfectly cooked lobster tail served with roasted rosemary potatoes. But the staff’s favorite were The Caribbean Snapper – grilled snapper served with a light, fresh pineapple salsa and the Grilled Caribbean Pork Chops both served with coconut rice and steamed zucchini.

Other items on the menu that our staff recommends are the Turkey Reuben Sandwich, Steak and Cheese Sandwich and the Cobb Salad that are on their lunch menu. At Blue Iguana Grille you have the option of sitting at the bar and enjoy a drink or two or sit by the verandah overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Blue Iguana Grille is the perfect place with a great view, delicious food and excellent service!
