Racoon's Hitch a Free Ride
We always see racoons in the wild and most of the time think of them as pests. But these three baby racoons seem too adorable to be called pests. Their owner was, well kinda, taking them for a walk along the beach. Just one of those thing you see while strolling the beaches of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize! - Pic by Gerry Badillo

As we teach the children in the schools. Not only is it illegal to possess Belizean wildlife without a license, most make very poor pets and the outcome is usually abandonment and death for the animals. Raccoons are very cute when they are little but they become aggressive, dangerous and destructive when they reach sexual maturity. That is when they are either killed, caged and neglected or abandoned (they can no longer fend for themselves and will either become dangerous nuisance animals or die of starvation). Please leave our wild animals in the wild. Also keep in mind that raccoon carry rabies and other diseases that are transmissible to humans. Its a shame that adults are not being more responsible role models to our children.
