the saca chispas project....wow a loan not a grant ... who will get the contracts for the project...by tender,by kickback,by my friend,by mi primo,by mi sobrino?????  THE WATER TAXI TERMINAL???  Who in the world proposed that one???  Anybody who knows about boats know that only outboard powered boats can navigate back there. If you want to improve services for the water taxis, passengers, visiting yachts, large and small up to six foot draft , the front side of the island is the best location!!! Passenger fares will increase substancially if it was back there. Build a building at the foot of the puplic dock for customs, immigration, portauthority for the benefit of ALL local and foreign. The park has already been ruined and the poor little children cannot play on the cobble stones for fear of busting their chops on them. It worked in Cozumel and Play del Carmen!! RAISE UP!!!!

Even though an annual audit is a legal requrement, there has not been a full audit of San Pedro Town Council for almost a decade.  There needs to be a full independent audit, preferably conducted by one of the major independent accountancy firms in Belize City and NOT by the incompetent Government Audit Commission, and this should be repeated annually.  Each candidate in the election should give an uindertaking to comply with this law.

If there are insufficient funds to pay for this, the Chamber of Commerce/Business Association should be approached for contributions.  If the audit is to be truly independent there will be no shortage of donors.

The auditors should be given power to investigate actions  during the period when the Council was unaudited, and to initiate action where appropriate, including prosecution.

Agree with first post. in my opinion, there can be no improvment until the elected officials are held accountable - to the penny! doing that and making records public and accessible will mean that everyone knows the situations that the town board is facing. Without that, town board will be mired in speculation of theft and gross mismanagement.

i would like to see a political term where the elected offical does not embark on their personal developments or purchase a vehicle that is probably far beyond their pay grade. Where do these funds come from? coincidentally the development stopped when the roads were restarted?

The present town council and mayor are the worst on record.  They should be recalled now before they do more damage to the community.  No transparency, far too many employees in the office, no help with roads, health care, schools. The mayor seems to be on permanent holiday and can never be reached.  Where is the bridge toll money going?  The bridge is paid for!  The ACTCC is a disaster.  They give SUV permits to their friends and deny legitimate applications.  There are far too many trucks, SUVs and cars on the island.  They’ve ruined our island paradise for the foreseeable future.  Disgusted...

The bridge is paid for, but because excessively large vehicles are now allowed to use it, vehicles of a size that was never envisaged when the bridge was designed, it is decaying rapidly and in danger of catastrophic collapse.
