Central Park Turns to Street? Ridiculous!

Okay, I told myself that I would fight this until the end just like I did with traffic on the beach, as I find it absurd that our town officials allow this. I know that we do not have eyes on the back of our heads and that the Town Council is under staffed and cannot handle everything at once, but this one is too obvious even a blind man can see it.

The town clock is not even completed and this is happening with traffic – Lazy bums who do not take the detour are cutting into Central Park from the south end, driving through the park around the Daddy Rock/food vendors area and INTO Friendship Park in front of the RC Church and back out into front street. This is all to avoid taking the detour through back street. COME ON! This is RIDICULOUS!

Tell me that the Town Council does not see this and that the Traffic Department cannot do something about it. Yeah they might be busy and short staffed and miss seeing this one day, but how about the next day? I do not patrol the streets as much as they do and I have seen it done regularly.

I hope that the town officials are educated enough not to get upset with my rant, but do get up and address this issue. Block these access points at Central Park so that they cannot drive into the area. It’s Central Park for crying out loud! How can we, our children and tourist enjoy the little we have of the park with traffic cutting across constantly? This is not right, we cannot allow people to do as they please or else they will just start walking all over you (in this case ride through Central Park). No need for warnings, just ticket these inconsiderate people who are doing this.

Traffic is a mess, and to think that officials eventually want to close down Barrier Reef Drive (Front Street). It was a great idea at one time, but now that traffic is so absurd on this island, how can we think of closing down one of the only three streets in town? Parking is already atrocious, traffic is brutal and the authority working on fixing the problems needs to step up and address the issues at hand.

If they had put the clock in the park where it belongs, instead of right in the middle of the road, people would not be using the park as a road. Problem solved.

This was always inevitable once the Mayor unilaterally decided to block the road. AFAIK there is no-one concerned with solving traffic problems, just profiting from gullible wealthy businessmen,

the town council is just plain LAZY....all of them. this town deserves to be better run by a team of people that acutally care....from the bridge repairs to the town clock to the huge potholes in the road to bad lighting areas etc. etc. etc. i think its time to clean house and get people that CARE for the well being of the town of san pedro people.

This happends every single day! Even the venders go with their golf carts to set up their stals. They go up Friendship Park and into Central Park.

Drug Dealers on Golf Cart always go down Central Park to go to Daddy Rock!

Terrible! This has to stop!

I agree with the pastor. There are people selling clothes in Friendship Park right in front of the Catholic Church and I think it is VERY WRONG! They should have some respect.

While I was waiting for my child to finish his classes for Holy Communion a Black Man on his bike came right to the front of the door of the church and from the top of his lungs he was singing out loud as to disturb the classes. I couldn't resist and I told him to stop it and to have some respect. He shouted back at me and told me that God Will Not Save Me. I was boiling inside. Then one of his friends came with his golf cart right down the center of Friendship Park. Again No Respect!

The Traffic Department or Town Council should put a sign that says no Vehicles allowed in Friendship Park or Central Park.

One of these days they will knock down a child on either parks.

TOWN COUNCIL....... If you don't want to work for the People Of San Pedro then step down.

I agree with the above comment about seeking a higher authority that is knowledgeable about laws. Clearly the Mayoress feels superior to everyone else on the island. I urge the San Pedranos to take this issue to a higher authority that can interject and do something about this, because it is absolutely absurd.

Barrier Reef Drive around the area where they are constructing that so-called "clock" just looks like chaos in my opinion. Imagine commencing another high season with a chaotic main street?? This is just plain wrong, I just cannot believe that the Town Council is still obstinate in constructing that jumbo tron that's just going to take away the innocence and quaintness of the island. On the matter of people driving through Central Park, the town council office is just yards away, there is no excuse for anybody for that matter to be driving through the park, suppose a child or someone gets hit by a golf cart, it's disaster waiting to happen. Come on Town Council please stop your arrogance and do something about it quickly!!!

Well my issue right now is not with the Town Clock, that is another issue. I will have to look into that. But earlier this year I took it upon myself to constantly make it aware to the Town Council and Traffic Dept. about all the traffic on the beach in front of Central Park. They closed the access points to the beach, Great! I thank them for that. But now the problem is on Central Park. These issues should be addressed immediately before these vehicles start deteriorating Central Park. People are given too much fredom when it comes to traffic on this island. It's insane.
