Hermit Crab Feast
If you want to lure hermit crabs out into the open, then crack open a coconut and watch them come out. I guess it's the sweetness and richness of the coconut that attracts them, because in no time there were close to ten of them feasting on this coconut that lay on the beach. But who does not like the rich creamy taste of the coconut and its sweet water. Ahhh! Such a delicacy in the tropics.

Halloween Garden Fun
Ghosts have invaded the garden of Ambergris Today Editor's house.
In fact, Dorian Nuñez's nephew Gaven Zapata helped out in making these fun ghosts that decorate his garden.

Conch Season is Now Open
Can't get any fresher than this! Conch season in Belize opened on October 1, 2011. Time to enjoy this delicious marine delicacy that is mainly prepared as a ceviche here on San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. But there is also Conch Fitters, Conch Soup and Conch Burgers which we all enjoy during the open season for Conch. Enjoy!

The Blooms Celebrate 30 on Belize’s 30
This week’s Picture of the Week was submitted to Ambergris Today by Flor Nuñez who had a wonderful story to go along with this great picture. The Island Academy paraded during the Independence Day Parade with purple T-shirts which read “30 Years in Bloom, Independence Day 2011”.

September 10th Bride
While San Pedro celebrated St. George's Caye Day on September 10, 2011, Kristi and Jim celebrated their nuptials at a ceremony held at The Phoenix Resort. Ambergris Today caught the couple walking down the beach after the ceremony during their photo shoot. Both Kristi and Jim were very happy enjoying the beautiful day as friendly island residents came up to them with congratulatory messages.

Mermaids in San Pedro
There are many beautiful excursions when it comes to exploring the second largest Barrier Reef in San Pedro, Belize. Many tourists and locals visit the popular reserves on La Isla. Sanpedrana, Angella Badillo and her fiance, Jason Eldridge came to San Pedro for their vacation and on their trip on the El Gato Tours they had an unforgettable experience, which was swimming with Manatees.

The Sun Sets in all its Glory
The sun does set in all its beautiful glory in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, unlike any other place in the world. This one captured by Gerry Badillo of Ambergris Today. The conditions were just perfect and the bird decided to make Gerry's picture so much more interesting. A great capture, we say!

Lightning Strikes during Thunderstorm
We had to share this picture that was taken by David Marin on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 8:20p.m. during a thunderstorm that brought a little bit of rain to Ambergris Caye. This

Love Them Marquesitas!
Delicious goodness on a Crispy wafer stick! Mmm, Mmm, Good! In think that Ambergris Today will be opening a side business of Marquesitas! Yes, really; they are that delicious and the Mexican vendor who came to sell them JUST for the Costa Maya weekend made a killing with them at $5Bze a piece. They were selling faster than you can say Deliciousness! :)

Ambergris Today's Got Everybody Planking
Ambergris Today is very excited to have started a planking craze in Belize. We have gotten planking photo submissions from young and old and from around the country, although we are missing from the Orange Walk, Stann Creek and Toledo districts to have the entire country PLANKING!

Sand and Sea Tranquility Bay
Can't get any better than this. Indeed the best beach on the island, as Tranquility Bay Resort boasts on its Facebook Page. We had to share this awesome picture taken in the waters just a few feet from the beach at the resort.

Road Block! What is That?
Honey there is something obstructing the road! We were perplexed with this giant ball blocking the main road south of town over the weekend. Looks like a giant baseball - we were actually waiting to see Clifford the big red Dog come fetch it! LOL. What is it? If you look closely down the road you can see a blue pick up truck coming back for its fallen cargo.

Hermit Crabs Invade Beach
It is that time of year again! The hermit crabs have come and now gone, but not after throwing a spectacular show as they invaded the beachside by the thousands! They gather every year around this time: to mate, hybernate or migrate? That is the question, but oldtimers say they are running from the water as rainy season approaches.

Slow Day at Busy Embarcadero
It was nap time at the busy embarcadero (the docks) by the San Pedro Lagoon just behind the Old Football Field. The lagoon was busy with sandlighters but the business was slow. Produce vendors set up their makeshift stalls along the lagoonside as they bring fresh fruits and vegetables from the mainland to sell on Ambergris Caye.

Summer is Here!
Summer is finally here and the best place to be when you are living in paradise is to head to the beautiful beach and dive into the refreshing aguamarine sea.

Friends Donate Bingo Winnings Back to Lions Club
Meet Robyn and Greg Ogdahl from St. Joseph Missouri, USA. They are regular visitors to La Isla Bonita and this past Friday, June 17, 2011, I met them at the San Pedro Lion’s Den during Bingo Night! To my pleasant surprise, Robyn recognized me from Ambergris Today Online which she commented that she reads on a regular basis to keep in touch with Belize.

Parking - Only in Ambergris Caye!
Do you think that they can get away with this in the U.S.? More than likely not! But they do it anyway in San Pedro. Clearly some tourist decided to park like this on Barrier Reef Drive, as the cart is a rental. Might traffic have been so crazy or could they have just wanted to squeeze in to get a parking spot? But wait, it was Sunday - the streets were practically empty! Tourist!

Cooling Off!
It's DRY, DUSTY and downright plain HOT! So finding ways to keep cool besides a dip in the sea is a must right now. We caught these siblings cooling off during the weekend while they helped out their father wash the golf cart. FUN!

Julio Lara Finds the "Garifuna Flava"
Sanpedrano Julio Lara, currently finishing his studies in Dentistry in Guatemala City, read on Ambergris Today about how Garifuna Flava Caribbean Restaurant in Chicago, Illinois will be featured on the Food Network. Well, coincidentally he finds himself vacationing in Chicago so he made a very special trip to visit the Belizean diner to see what all the buzz is about!

Horse Back Riding in Ambergris Caye!
I don't know if someone is starting up a horseback riding business in San Pedro, but I bumped into these three guys while riding on golft cart through North Ambergris a few weeks back. If anyone thought there were no horses on the island, think again. Be it private or commercial, its was cool to see them enjoying the views and trails of North Ambergris on horseback!

Surf's Up!
Ambergris Caye does not have the large waves crashing into shore like neighboring Cancun or surfing heavens like California or Hawaii, but during the Spring time when the winds pick up significantly, extreme sports athletes like Averaldo "Picho" Badillo enjoy kite surfing.
